Driving Licence in Malaysia

In Malaysia, there are different types of Licence. To take a licence is not as easy as it is said.
There are :
1) Learner's Driving licence (LDL)
2) Probationary Driving licence (PDL)
3) Competent Driving licence (CDL)
4) Vocational Driving licence (VDL)
5) International Driving Permit (IDP)
First, when an individual want to take a licence, that individual must first attest a 6 hour of Safety Driving Theory Course and sit for computer exam on Road Safety. When he has passed the exam, he will be issued a Learner’s Driving Licence (L).
Once issued with the ‘L’ licence within 3months the individual must go for road safety and road exam to pass and get the ‘P’ licence that is Probationary Driving Licence, where the individual has to be on probation for 2years without any traffic offences.
After 2years of probationary period the individual will issued a competent licence. A competent Driving Licence can be renewed after evert 1, 2, 3 or 5 years.
Vocational Driving Licence or commercial Driving Licence will be issued for commercial vehicles drivers such as lorries or buses.
Where as International Driving Permit or licence are issued to Malaysian to drive in foreign countries.
And there is also different asses of driving licence that is;
• A - Invalid Carriage (Motorcycle) unladen weight not exceeding 450 kg
• A1 - Invalid Carriage (Motorcar) unladen weight not exceeding 3500 kg
• B - Motorcycle exceeding 500 cc
• B1 - Motorcycle not exceeding 500 cc
• B2 - Motorcycle not exceeding 250 cc
• C - Three-Wheeled Motorcycle
• D - Motor Car unladen weight not exceeding 3500 kg
• DA - Motor Car Without Clutch Pedal unladen weight not exceeding 3500 kg
• E - Heavy Motor Car unladen weight exceeding 7500 kg
• E1 - Heavy Motor Car unladen weight not exceeding 7500 kg
• E2 - Heavy Motor Car unladen weight not exceeding 5000 kg
• F - Tractor/Mobile Machinery Light (Wheeled) unladen weight not exceeding 5000 kg
• G - Tractor/Mobile Machinery Light (Tracked) unladen weight not exceeding 5000 kg
• H - Tractor/Mobile Machinery Heavy (Wheeled) unladen weight exceeding 5000 kg
• I - Tractor/Mobile Machinery Heavy (Tracked) unladen weight exceeding 5000 kg
• M - Court Conviction
